AWIR invites members to submit research proposals that evaluate gaps in patient
access to specialists or approved treatments for rheumatic diseases.
The AWIR-Clinical Research committee has years of experience in both basic and clinical research
and we comply with the requirements of all aspects of Good Clinical Practice guidelines.

To adequately treat our patients we rely on published data from clinical trials.
We make our decisions on how to evaluate, diagnose, and treat our patients based on this valuable data. Join in on the forefront of gathering this information.

Prospective registry assessing differences in comorbidities, disease activity and disease burden across geographic regions in RA patients
Study Rationale |
• Patients with RA often have multiple comorbidities • Employment, health care coverage, insurance plans varies amongst RA patients and by geography • Using AWIR’s Clinical reach, we seek to answer whether comorbidities also vary across geographical regions and practices in the US? • Comorbidities and other variables of disease burden can be captured from patient input while in the waiting room or via existing data from an electronic health record • Grant support — Bristol Myers Squibb |
Requirements for initiation and enrollment of patients by investigator: |
• AWIR contract for data collection and adherence to Good Clinical Practice |
Project status: Requirements for initiation and enrollment of patients by investigator
COLLABORATIVE RESEARCH
Rheumatology Informatics System for Effectiveness (RISE) registry and AWIR RADB data
Study Rationale |
• Similar to the RISE registry, AWIR will collect and analyze data on socioeconomic status and patient outcomes in collaboration with the University of Alabama UAB Pharmacoepidemiology and Pharmacoeconomics Research (PEER) Unit. • Grant support — Gilead |
Project status: Requirements for initiation and enrollment of patients by investigator
